Itogon is a 1st class municipality in the province of Benguet, Philippines. According to the latest census, it has a population of 48,778 people in 8,588 households.

The town is bounded on the northwest by the municipalities of La Trinidad and Tublay, on the northeast by the municipality of Bokod, on the southwest by the province of Nueva Vizcaya, on the south by the province of Pangasinan, and on the west by the municipality of Tuba and Baguio City.

The town was created into a regular municipality from the former municipal district of the same name in 1951.[1]

Economy

Generally inhabited by Ibalois, Itogon’s main source of livelihood is mining. Secondary to mining is agriculture.

Tourism

At present, the only known tourist destination areas in Itogon are Binga Dam in Tinongdan and Balatoc Mines Tours in Virac. The other tourist spots include the open pit mines in Loacan, hot spring in Dalupirip, Mt. Ugo in Tinongdan, Level 1300 swimming pools in Poblacion with hot steams and bath and the mummies in Domolpos also in Tinongdan.
